OUR MALLARD FLOATER DECOYS DESIGN:
We commissioned renowned artist Laurie J. McNeil to craft our Mallard Floater Decoys prototypes. With meticulous attention to detail, she transformed wood blocks into lifelike decoys, adorning them with a stunning paint finish. After carving, she added a distinctive keel design featuring our Deadly Decoys® name and logo. We are delighted with the result and believe you will be, too. The weighted keel has three strategically positioned holes for attaching your decoy line and weights.
DURABILITY AND PAINT ADHESION:
We extensively tested various plastic blends and ultimately chose an EVA blend for its characteristics. This blend offers a softer texture with flexibility suitable for cold weather conditions. It exhibits durability and exceptional paint adhesion.
After achieving the desired look and feel for the mallard floater decoys, we proceeded with real-world testing, aiming for a direct comparison with competitors in the market. To facilitate this, we purchased brand-new competitor floaters. We subjected them and our own to rigorous testing, including submersion, freezing, dropping, and impact tests in and out of a duck boat. Following this comprehensive testing, we thoroughly evaluated the performance of each decoy. Our testing found that Deadly Decoys® Mallard Floater Decoys matched or exceeded the competitors’ performance.
WHERE HAVE WE HUNTED WITH THEM?
Depending on river level, the Mississippi River offers diverse waterfowl hunting opportunities, ranging from big open water to flooded timber, mud flats, and secluded backwaters. These decoys have been used extensively during the 2020-2023 seasons and have proven effective in decoying late-season mallards, even in heavily pressured public hunting areas. They have demonstrated excellent durability and have maintained their paint adhesion.
