Headless snow goose decoys are the mainstay in snow goose hunting during the conservation order. Most set up a migrator spread of one thousand or more decoys trying to get the attention of locally staged and migrating flocks of snow geese. On our decoys spreads, 75% are headless decoys. The breakdown is 75% snow geese (65% snow geese, 10% juvy snow geese) and 25% blues.
Snow goose decoys are hard to get super detailed with, but they are more than just a black X. Like all of our other windsocks, we pulled as much feather detail as possible from our snow goose artwork. We are printing it in full color on the rotproof – waterproof Tyvek® material. The dimensions of the snow goose body are 12″ W X 19″ L. The spring snow goose season is known for extreme weather variations, so the three drain holes allow rain or melting snow & ice to run right out of the bottom.
BACKBONE™ SUPPORT: Did you know that windsock decoys didn’t have supports in the early days of the spring snow goose season? One of the significant issues in the spring is that there isn’t wind blowing early and late on a fair number of days. It isn’t until the sun gets higher in the sky that the wind picks up. Windsocks without supports or a stiff breeze hang straight down the stake. Determined to solve this issue, we worked through several versions until satisfied with our Patent No-Break BackBone™ Support. We were the first to market and still have the best modern-day windsock support.
STAKE OPTIONS:
Headless snow goose decoys have three stake options: 1/4″ fiberglass stakes (either 24″ or 36″ long) or 3/16 stainless steel stakes (24″ long). We use Tall Stakes (36″) around the laydown blinds. They cast shadows which help to hide them. All fiberglass stakes come with black push nut tops.
COMPACT:
If you load our windsock decoy bag (sold separately) correctly, 150 fully assembled headless snow goose decoys fit. It is a simple way to count, store, and transport your spread.
